It’s been a while since I’ve shared any shoots on my blog, which is kinda funny because we have been shooting non stop...! Haha, sorry about that! However, this shoot in particular was really special to me because it was for one of my favorite brands that I've ever worked with, Rove! Rove is based in Byron Bay, Australia and is designed for "light-hearted globetrotting in style.” Sounds pretty perfect, right?! The designer, Carolin, is a traveler herself and is one of those girl bosses that make you feel like you can accomplish your wildest dream if you just decide to actually go for it-- no matter what that 'it' may be for you! Just see for yourself... here's a few words from Rove's blog written by Carolin that really inspire me! :)
ROVE IS A LOT ABOUT FLYING AND WINGS.
Actually our logo is a bird wing. It all started with a black crow sitting next to me in our Byron backyard, urging me to change directions. But that's another story.
I feel that travelling can give you wings. It can lift you up and let you dive into completely new and unknown situations.
I always have that image of a cliff. Travelling and starting a business can be a lot like standing on a cliff.
It’s exhilarating, because you know you will jump, but you are scared about what’s ahead of you. It can be nerve-wracking.
But you know you will take that risk, there's such a strong need for it.
And you go for the leap of faith.
You run towards the edge, jump off….and you are flying.
YOU SPREAD YOUR WINGS AND YOU REALISE THAT THIS IS WHAT LIFE IS ALL ABOUT. YOU ARE LIGHT AND HAPPY AND FREE. YOU ARE ALIVE.
I first collaborated with this lovely brand when I lived in NYC and was so excited to actually meet Carolin recently in Bali! Zach and I were honored to be able to work together to shoot her entire new collection, "The Greek Get-away!" We shot here in Bali although the location totally made it look like we were exploring those iconic white + blue streets of Greece... I am dying to actually visit, btw! But then again if Greece isn't on the top 5 of your bucket list then idk what's wrong with you... ;)
